Jackie Hickey recently posted on her blog, Caring@Home, about an important new study from the Canadian Patient Safety Institute entitled “Safety at Home: Pan-Canadian Home Care.” The study emphasizes that home care is “an integral component of the ongoing restructuring of healthcare in Canada,” and it raises awareness of a wide range of issues related to patient safety in the home.
“Released on June 26,” Hickey writes, “the CPSI study is the first of its kind. The study examines the reasons why harmful incidents occur, determines the impact on families and clients, and makes suggestions for how to make home care safer.
“Watch the video for a clear picture of why the time is right for a safe home-care service, and a mother’s perspective on how home care service is the only way her daughter can endure the complex care needs she requires at home.”
